Sorry for taking up your post ACCORDEX but since it was on the same note no need to start a new post....![]()
thanks for the pic there mindlos.....ive seen that one before and i guess that the dotted lines to the other port means do the same thing as shown to thte other one and it should also hold air.....mmmmmm.....time to replace the diaphram and rebuild the carb...
Thanks for the help...

Sorry about that Mike. My hunch is that the advance linkages into the dist may be getting frozen/stuck. When they get unstuck and snap into place position they are supposed to be you get the kick. I would clean up and lubricate the linkages and make sure they always move freely. A vacuum pump would help to see what happens when you apply vacuum. You can also move them with your finger.
Have you done the vacuum tests like Dutchboy did to see if the diagphram is still intact and not bleeding off. Is there a way to get hold of a used advance unit or distributor? Be it acquiring or borrowing for troubleshooting? They seem equally difficult to get hold off and easier to change the distributor than just the advance unit. Thats the way I would go from here if cleaning and lubricating the linkages does not help.

Seems like you are certainly not getting the advance you need at the lowest rpms. Since you do get a kick it may suggest stuck linkages rather than a bleeding diagphram. But I still would not rule it out.Originally posted by ACCORD EX
about the kick in > when i am accelerating @ 2500 i get a kick in ( Like pressing a NOS button) the rpm rises quieker but don't jump ! ( and doesn't stop @ 2800 rpm )
~ mindlos
well i think i 'll take the cap off and clean everything !
and see what happens !

That's where a junkyard dist may come in handy.. If i were u i would take the dist apart and clean it. There are more moving parts in it than one expects. Not only sticky stator but also stuck rotor..
well guys do you recommend changing CAP and ROTOR ?
thanx a lot !

finally i fixed the problem ! it was the ignition timing ! :gay:
it was set at 18 ( my service manual says 20 +/- 2 )
so i advanced it a bit till i heard pinging and set it back a bit !
now i don't get that wierd strong kick ! yeah i feel a power increase when flooring it after 2500 rpm but not that wierd kick !
thanx a lot guys for all the help !
