    no room for fog lights

i was looking at my car and decided to buy some foglights. i also noticed there were removable covers below the bumper. when i went to install them, theres a nut holding the bumper and it restricts the fog light to angle right when i would mount it. it fits when it is of center to the left but i think it looks stupid like that.

i was looking at others cars and it looks like they hacked off theplastic to the below grill and fit the lights in there. but will i have to put in a metal mesh grill if i do that? will it look stupid?? any other suggestions would help

You can see where I mounted mine in my avatar. I took the removable covers off of the bumper and mounted in there. They look good. Almost like they came with the car.

Steve-What brand of fog lights did you put in there? I need to replace mine and I'm looking for a pair that fit in the bumper recess.

I think they look best on either side of the liscence plate, but they also look good in the holes already in the bumper. I think I will go with both. Fogs in the bumper, and driving lights by the liscence plate. What does cutting away the plasstic in the middle do to performance> I have heard that it creats down force but I think the guy was full of it.

Turfnsurf (Brad) has an SE-i with the factory fog light switch, but not the factory fog lights. BUT, his car does have a bracket that comes down from behind the turn signals and his fog lights were mounted to that. My guess is that this is the stock setup.

Hey Brad, maybe you could post some pics?

i would say put em on either side of the grille if they are the realy small round ones. but if they are more rectangle, put em in those places where the covers come off on the bumper. i think the horns are hiding up in there. and i think gettin that mesh stuff to put infront of them is a great idea. my friend broke his with a rock cuz they werent protected.

yeah, if they are rounded they look better placed in the grille by the liscense plate. when i get some for mine, i want to get the stock looking rectange ones. i would want them in the stock mount place if the are squarish.

    carot,

You got me thinking there and you probably could make it look like that. This is just something that I though of but you could probably take some clear plexiglass and form it based on the stock hole cover and then secure it in the opening (superglue? clips?) in front of your foglights. I guess that would be as close to flush mounting as you can get. What do you think?

    My $.02 for now.
