    Webber Carbs

Hey all you guys with Webber carbs. I was wondering if you have had any problems with the engine running at lower rpms. I put a Webber on my 70 Datsun truck 1600cc and it runs good but if it is not choked it will die bellow 1200 rpm. I don't have a tach on it yet so the 1200rpm is a good guess. I had it rebuilt and adjusted many times and I can't fix it. I need to sell my truck so I can do more stuff to my Accord but as long as it keeps doing this I can't sell it. Please help.

Just adjust the idle to a higher rpm, problem solved. My truck idles at 1800 rpms, and it's an '83. I dont think older trucks are meant to idle that low (800 or so). They have more aggressive cam profiling and such to enable them to create more torque for towing purposes. Just find your idle adjust screw and tweak it up a bit, it's not freakish or anything to see a truck idling higher than a car.

Richen up the idle mixture. Back the mixture screw out slowly untill the idle speed stops going up. Then adjust the idle speed. If you have to back the screw out rather far, more then a couple turns, then you need a biger idle jet.

1800 is too high for my truck. I will have to check tomorrow but I think it suppose to be around 600 or something. I will try the mixture screw and see if it help or not when ever I get up in the morning.

you may have to get a different fuel pump. some of the webers require a new fuel pump.

I never though about that. I'll ask around so see if that will help, cause I need to get rid of this truck.
