    Unhappy Failed Emissions Test

So I failed my emissions test today. The hydrocarbon and nitrous oxide levels were all under the limit, but the CO% (carbon monoxide) was way over. They said that they could do a diagnostics test on it, but it would cost me another $75 on top of the $37 they charged me for the test. I was just wondering if anyone knows what the problem might be. I've chaged the air filter and oil just last week and the spark plugs are pretty new.

    Thanks

I took my car to the mechanic today and as soon as he looked at the sheet with the results on it he said that my carb is running too rich a mixture. So I'm going to get that adjusted and try passing agian. But thanks for your input shepherd79.

man if it's running too rich i don't see why the rest of the car is passing and only the CO is high.

Some of the adjustments you can do yourself... like the float and idle mixture. May take some time though.... and the float adjustment screw tends to get leaky if you don't replace the old o-rings before adjusting it.
