I say go with something like the MTX 8000 series sub, and one of their amps... good stuff, and they really dont weigh too much, im guessin all together a 10/12" in a box and the amp... maybe 150-200lbs... The main weight of subs is in the magnet, so bigger magnet, the more it weighs. Take the JL W7 for example, it has a giant magnet I think its like 30lbs or somethin, and then the mtx 8000 which magnet is somethin like 15-20lbs I think.

I got my 3 10" MA audio subs in a box and I made the mistake of carrying it down to my basement myself until i get an amp and install it, and I would guess that it weighs about 150lbs or somethin... I fuckin killed my back.

I think thats a little high most people i know with subs weigh about 80lbs, that would be 2 subs in sealed box and amp. Mine weighs alot more than that tho (120). Also a single sub and amp should weigh alot less than 50lbs

My current Eclipse sub and ~1.3 cubic foot box weigh approx 30 lbs.

I just ordered a 15-inch sub that weighs 37 pounds by itself........ heeeheehee...

System set-ups vary in weight GREATLY. My last one was the same Eclipse with a 2.2 cubic foot ported box made out of .75" MDF and that thing killed my back anytime I moved it.

Generally, if you go ported, the box will be MUCH bigger and it will weigh MUCH more.

My next box is going to be made out of Baltic Birchwood. It's double the price of MDF ($40 for a 4X8' sheet) but it weighs MUCH less and it's supposed to be like 3 times more rigid. Check it out if you're not afraid to spend the little bit more for it.
