just this winter ive spent close to 2000 just to rebuild the motor, have the head work done, and get a new clutch and a few other misc. things. it all adds up in a hurry, im sure that i have around 3 in the car at the moment, and thats not including the rims/tires and CF hood that im gonna get over the summer.....along with a cam to help out the motor work even more.......

This one makes me sick to think of...Engine & exhaust mods were killer, the ice wasn't so bad- my ice was just shaving emlems and filled the holes, the H4 conversion on my headlights, and my enkei rims wrapped in my Toyos...and some vinyl. I had a $2,800 repair job on the passenger side in december-then it was totalled in March...so I'm kicking myself in the @$$...if I'd known what was going to happen, I wouldn't have bothered...now I'm even more broke and way past being set back to square one.

i don't think you could have known or planned on your car getting totalled. don't kick yourself for that.

I just got the car but when you buy a car off of someone your easily gonna spend $1000 in the first year in maintence and preventative maintence. Then mods will be the killer.

i'm glad some people can realise that. some of my friends buy cars and as soon as something goes wrong with it they want to sell it. used cars cost money.

most people think im rediculous for spending lots of money on this car. anyway ive spent about $3000 over a couple of years. just little things added up. but the most expensive was the body work after the wreck. it was about $1900. i have gotten a lot of things that added up, but i only had to spend a few dollars on them. most of the stuff i have bought for the car is under $100. seats, spoiler, interior stuff, wheels, etc. most of the stuff i got from the junk yard in realy good condition.

I agree Grant2k..Im 24 and have had about 7 cars though, so im pretty seasoned.

To hondaboy...i get the same questions.. why dont you just buy a new car? why spend so much into to your car? blah blah blah:flipa: I tell them first we cant all afford 2003 cars and even if i could why do i want one. This one is payed for and the amount of money he pays a year for payments i can buy a new engine and tranny, then work on mods and customizing my car.

I've spent around $1000-$1100. Mostly in repairs with some mods. This past winter I put around $450 just in the rear brakes cause the calipers locked up, and when they did that it messed up the rotors and pads. I know I'll have alot more money in it by this time next year.

You name it I've done it almost. I'm getting ready for 5 speed swap, so after that i'll be hitting about $4000 plus the 2,000 I spent to buy my hatchie.

i miss my 3g... i wish i had it back... unless youve been through what i and rare_89 have gone through, i can see why it can be tough to see things any other way...

true, im making payments on a new car, but i can turn around and sell the car for 15 grand... its an investment... sure, instead of making a car payment, you can turn around and spend thousands on a new engine, mods, new paint, etc, but when it is all said and done, your car is still worth 1500 dollars... you are going to have a hard time trying to convince someone else (another buyer, an insurance company) that because you've spent 5000 dollars on your car, it is now worth 7000 dollars...

just ask anyone who has been in an accident and has had their 3g totalled by an insurance company...

i made a huge mistake and spent way too much on this car...
    wheels/tires=1000
    weber/header/exhaust=800
    prelude tranny/clutch=300
replacement parts=1000 (all new front suspension, front and rear brakes all new, new distributor, cap and rotor)
    suspension=600

only about 3500, but the car is on its last leg and im not gonna do anything else to it major.. i was thinkin a B20 swap with a 38 weber, but its not worth it.. im either gonna go with a 4th gen civic hatch, 4th gen accord with H22 or another 3rd gen that has super low miles... an 89 LXI hatchback

Most of my money has gone towards my audio system. I dont know if that would be considered going towards the 3gee but what the hay.
Thinking about getting a new 3g...
