Sounds right. It's a larger round plug with a hex head. You can get to it from above. Fill with the car level until it starts to drip out. You can use 10w30 or Honda MTF.

17 mm head with about 32 mm diameter threads is the fill plug.

on my 89 lxi, yes i've asked before, there is no dipstick for tranny fluid like people tell me. i've also been told about this fill plug, but from what i was being told i thought it was on the bottom of the car. mine would take ATF. where the hell do i put it in at??? my haynes manual only tells me about the tranny dipstick, which as i said isn't there.

for a AT look down by the battery there will be a little cap twist it off the dip stick is under it(conected to it), to check the fluid don't screw the cap back in, dip it in and pull it back out there is a fill line on it. ATF is fine to use.
