thanks in advance.

I went with a K&N oil filter, don't use any oil heavier than a 5w30, and with our cars i would sugest using synthetic oil, or a blend. Honda also sells a Honda brand 5w20 synthetic, that is a littel bit of money but it works great.
Stay away from Pennzoil and Quaker State oil... they just buy oil and slap their brand name on it. For oil filter, genuine Honda is great. When you have to crush oil filters, Honda filters don't crush down nearly as much as others.
The newer Honda filters that say "made in canada" are made by Fram though, so I'd steer clear of those. I'll probably go with Puroilator next time. As for oil, I use Mobil1 synthetic 10w-30 (I use the thicker stuff cuz of the hot climate here). Always worked great for me!

DON'T SLAM OIL COMPANIES/DISTRIBUTORS!
Obviously you don't know very much about SAE standards. If you find a major brand oil at your local store, you are going to get a descent oil. (unless maybe it's some really off-brand, at some convienience store.)
refer to this https://www.3geez.com/showthread.php?...d=273#post2786 post i made a while back. (dang, that was _quite_ a ways back!.. wait.. holy $hit that was a year to the day ago!)
I WOULD NOT suggest a 5w20 motor oil for any of our cars, that oil wasn't even out when our cars were built, thus our engines not designed for that. I'd at least stick to a 5w30 if you're in a really cold climate. But, 10w30 is definately a sure shot for all-around weather and performance/reliability.
As for filter, I'd suggest the Puralator filters for our years. The one for my A20A3 (89) is MUCH longer than Fram/honda/QS/etc. More filtering power IMO. (holds a litte more too).
WTF is it w/ honda in canada filters? Is that supposed to be a joke? If it is, I'll laugh, if it's not, then please enlighten me. Is there something wrong w/ fram? I don't see the problem?
Which reminds me... $hit, i need an oil change too! first one since she's passed 200k mi mark. woohoo. break out the beer!
This useless space for sale, please inquire at the front desk.
oil: 10w30 or 10w40 only. that is what manual says. 5w30 is too thin for our engines.
filter: i use STP fiters. they have better flow than fram or anyother filters. just look inside the filter and compare how many little holes you see in fram and STP.
Alex.
10w-40w most of the time, once summer comes 20w-40w.

Wix makes an excellent filter. They've been around for years.
The 5W-20 being used on newer cars is because of the closer engine tolerances that our 15 yr. old cars do not have.
For a 3-G, use 10W-30 in areas where winters are moderate. Use 10W-40 or 20W-50 if summer is sizzling where you live and change filter and oil every 3K.

The Wix oil filter has the anti drain back valve, which should be the minimum feature on any filter used on your 3g.
Nothin' extra
My 1988 Accord Service Manual states 5W-30 PREFERRED for all ambient temperatures but above 20 degrees F 10W-30 may be used. I will look for the link about oil filters. Somebody actually took a bunch of oil filters apart to see what is inside each brand of filter.

I also found another site where someone measured the drop in pressure across the various filters but I am not sure how to interpret that data.
