your a20 can handle around a 40 shot on stock internals. you probably want an A/F gauge to keep on eye on your mixture. if your going to be looking for more than that, you need to beef up your internals and possibly your fuel system.
86 white hatch LXi with 5spd swap and full system.

Go for more!!!! Get cam, pistons, bigger fuel pump and regulator. That's what I'm doing. I want at least a 50 shot. Can we go up to a 75 or 100 shot? How much hp boost does a 50, 75, and 100 shot give you?

Cams are not a good idea under N2O, they must be special nitrous cams or stock cams are fine. Bigger cams allow Nitrous leakage due to the higher and longer lift profile of the cam, it will leak through the intake valves and possible back fires may occure resulting in engine damage.

Also, pistons should also be nitrous compliant and so forth. A 50 shot is fine for a stock motor. Some members have a 75 shot or so on stock internals and claim to run fine. However i do not estimate long term reliability under these severe conditions.
A good reliable shot that should keep your engine on the safe side is about 50 shot.
When dealing with nitrous, the estimated power is usually measured.... 1 shot = 1 horse power. 50shot = 50horses.
