rolling idle,surge

I have a 89 accord lx-i 2.0 fi engine when started cold idles fine when it warms up the idle starts to roll up down up down. It dosent do it everytime just once in a while maybe 3 out of 8 starts any info would be app. thanks

Mine used to do that. Replace the fast idle valve. You can see the top of it near the air filter box, to the left. It has a cap held on by two screws and has two small coolant hoses connected to it.

for about $37. I still get the rolling idle sometimes when coasting with hot engine at hot ambient temperature, but I think that is something other than the fast idle valve.

Check your coolant, and purge any air in it (check how-to).
If that doesn't solve your problem, then check and clean the fast idle valve. Tighten the valve down if it's loose. If that doesn't solve it, then take it off and clean it in some brake cleaner fluid or something.
If that doesn't solve your problem, take off the socket for the EACV when it does that. If it idles fine, you found your problem.
Also check your vacumm hoses for leaks.
Could also be your distributor.
