Where is egr lift sensor located?

Ok I have a code 12 and want to change the egr lift sensor, but where is it located? I have an '87 lx-i hatch.

Aaahhh you have that problem. Locate what looks like a grenade hooked up to your intake manifold (trace back the metal pipe from your exhaust manifold to your intake... it's right there.) This is the EGR valve.

I've had the same problem with my car since I bought it... hasn't affected it's performance in any way that I've noticed. And since that part is a tad over 160 dollars, it can stay broke for the time being.

Since you said in your other post that the CEL isn't lit, have you cleared the codes from the ECU by disconnecting the battery or removing the ecu/clock fuse for 5-10 seconds? Then drive the car and see if the CEL comes on and the code reappears. If so, then troubleshoot or replace the egr valve.
Am I full of crap too?

Could be that the valve was replaced and the ECU was never reset, at which point yanking the fuse for a few minutes will do the trick.

Your eggur valve is busted, so your piggum-fye light comes on :lol

No the post earlier about the guy full of crap was because of his wording... he said something like "check under the driver's shit" and I had no clue what he meant and thought he was just messin with me. Anyways, I just put on a short ram intake and hooked up the egr valve to it... so I will pull out the ecu fuse and see if the code clears and let you guys know how it went!

Oh one more quick question... is the egr valve the same thing as the egr lift sensor?

bringing this post back to life. I'm having a code 12, so i searched egr lift valve and this is one of the posts that came up. So does someone have a large picture of where the egr is located, and like jagojon asked, is the egr sensor and the egr valve pretty much the same thing? Would i have to replace them both?

What is the little black box located on top of the EGR Valve? Its an 87 Accord LXi. I am getting a code 12 on the ECU i took off the EGR this weekend and clreaned it all out it looked ok and seems to function ok but i am still getting a code 12. I looked for the part online and it doesn't have the black box on top. So i just wanted to know if anyone knew what that was for

    Thanks:super:

Are you talking about the little black box that the wires go into?

It is part of the EGR lift sensor. Can't really be disconnected as it's all one piece.
