Wink I WIN!!! YAY!! ok what tires?

Ok guys I won a set of dunlop tires at a benefit for my aunts nephew, so im thinking about getting rims. I was thinking of 17x7 with 205/40/17s... does anybody have a suggestion? Also do going with big tires like that kill performance and how much better is the handling?

Wouldn't that be your cousin? I loved the handling I had with my 17X7's And yes it does kill the performance and it is noticable. I noticed a difference when I got my SI rims on. And when I took my 17's off to put on stock steelies there was a big difference.

I've always felt that 17's hold a slight edge on looks compaired to 16's. But I never felt compelled to really think about 17's for performance sake on my honda. It's just to expensive and such a limit selection to find them with weights less than 17lbs. I recommend 16's. I would go with rota's with a 45mm offset and run 215/40-16 or 215/45-16 tires, though 205/45-16 would be the proper choice if you went with rims that a 40mm offset and not 45mm.

Here's a link with really good prices to look and see how you feel about various rota rims.

If you want to check out other rims, go to www.whalentire.com
they show you the rim offset's (never go with less than 40mm offset) and they even show you when a rim is light weight. Try not to go with rims that are more than the oem rims, 18lbs.

ok i ordered Dunlop SP sport 9000s (Z RATED!!!) in 205-40-ZR17. Now i gota get rims. From what ive seen they are supposed to be better than alot of the stuff on the market and its also their best tire.

My first post - I just got my 89 SEI and need to put wheels on it. i too am looking for 17" 205/40-17. Jim (or anyone else) -- I went to Whalen Tire, but the lighest 17" I found was 17.5 lbs.

Hmm, just saw this one at 15.7 lbs:

I've got more money than sense, so I don't mind looking at the more expensive, lighter 17" rims... any recommendations?

Ok, the 9000's were on backorder so i order some 901's in the same size, a little cheaper tire but i didnt feel like waiting months on backorder, and they are better in bad weather and look cooler than 9000s but still have the ZR speed rating... thats cool with me. Oh yeah they arrived today! Actually its my dads brothers wifes sisters son, which makes him not really related to me. Poor kid jumped off of like an 8 ft pier into a lake that was 2ft deep and broke his neck... At least hes not totally paralyzed but he has very little function in his legs/lower torso...

AccordEpicenter -- what did u decide for the rims? I went shopping today and I'm thinking about the Konig Holes or Heliums (in 17"). Anyone here have them? Comments?

I've got the burgundy/red -- any recommendations on color for the rims?

    Silver / Graphite / Titanium.....?

im very open to suggestions, so far i like Tenzo Shu-4's in gunmetal... I like alot of Konigs and Racing Harts, Niches too, etc... i like Volk/Rays Engineering too but they are really expensive. Its gonna be a while for me to afford rims because im putting money into the 5 speed swap for now
