they are getting old, man, lotsa miles and what not... after a while too many things go wrong and they arent worth putting money into. I get to take free parts off of friends 3rd gens when they are junking their cars, which has been 1 every 3 mos now for the last year. The funny thing is that all the cars ran and the trannies were good, but they front upper control arms keep rusting right out of the wheelwell rendering the car dangerous to drive and unpredictable. That kind of thing is not good to be driving around

yeah, i agree. but what about all the people with nice ass cars. like maurice, his car was nice as all hell. and now matt, with his GS-R project in the works, is thinkin' about scraping it. i mean come on, these cars aren't falling apart, you're giving up on them. the nicest accord on here(speedwise) is wickedaccord's. he has the full GS-R swap, even though it cost him an arm and a leg to get it. it cost alot of money to do it yes, but the end resut is the ultimate sleeper. it just seems to me latley that no one else around here has any dedication to these cars. don't give up people. these cars can be badass, it just costs money, like any other car, it costs money to make it fast. buy getting a newer car you're only adding a car payment onto your list of expenses. have some faith in these 3gee's. they're dedicated to survive the beatings that we all give them, so let's show some dedication to their cause in return.

    i'm scaring myself now, i sound like a preacher....or a revolutionary...3gee revolutionary...

well a lot of people dont really care about their car, they are stuck with it cause of money. Now that they have more money they just say, "fuck you" to the 3g. My car had a bad motor at 195k due to being taken badly cared for. What did i do? I bought a new motor 86k, went to the junkyard and picked up everything i needed to fix it (33 items), put it all all, got the thing painted (no cheap maaco shit, cost me 1300 dollars to have my entire car shaved with my only 2 small dents removed, and painted mettalic burguny maroon again. My car had a ton of things broken with it, my parents took really bad care of it, so now nobody touches it cause of me. I just put 3300 dollars into the car in the past 3 months to get it to brand new running/looking condition, so i love my car and always will.

    give me 2 years

I am currently putting together a badass 3g, I am focused mostly on looks/sound system, I know these cars are not fast stock (especially carbed like mine) but I dont care, I plan on having a family soon. I want something I can roll in that looks good and has a good sound system. Living in alaska I am not after that low look either just stock height, some 18"s for summer, and a good paint job, tinted windows, and sound system, so there are still people out there who love these cars.

    sorry about the long post

Yea, it's just a cycle like anything else. People come and go, but when you look at how many new people we get compared to how many leave, the number probably stays about the same if not growing. Of course our cars are great, otherwise none of us would be here with our 14-17 year old cars that we love so much. Some people aren't as attached as other though, or never really wanted it in the first place, and decide to move on when the opportunity opens up. Or the temptation for RWD just becomes too great...

Personally, my beloved 3g will be with me till death do us part If something ever happened to my car that made me get rid of her, I would suffer mental trauma....it's like part of the family! haha

Well i am going to be on the board for a long, long time to come. Some people just want something that goes really fast and gets shit gas mileage. There is no point in having a car that runs 12's cause we have cops around every single corner just about, and they have radar mounted on the fucking lights! I love my car cause its plenty fast on acceleration, gets great gas, and looks really good (brand new). Problem is that if anyone is and will probably scratch it i will have a heart attack and fall dead.

I been liking these Accords since they came out. They are some of Honda's cars, esp., the lx-i engines. If everyone Accord owner had followed Honda's recommendations for maintenance, there would be a lot more of them ou t there. A lot of people ignored some things and that leads to failures. I'ma keep mines for the longest, even though I have a couple other Hondas, too. I bought mine to fix it up (talk about neglect...) and I like to do stuff RIGHT the FIRST time. So, you just have to be a little patient maintaining these older cars, esp. when previous owners let some things slide too long.

I'm dedicated to the 3G... prelude that is . I pick up my new car this weekend. I want to use the accord as my ghetto racing project but I won't be able to start that for a year or so. It also depends on my money situation.
    Now:
    -1988 Honda Prelude custom
-1988 Honda Accord (to be fixed and sold)
    Soon:

I'm not only dedicated to the car... but the lowend motor that came with it... as the name suggests.

although I sorta cheated and got an A3 with a carb swap.

its a great car, but cars get old, they break down, and u buy a newer car. the accord is a good car, but i won't lie; when i get the money i will move on to a newer car. like my dad always told me when i was first looking for a car, "you can buy a newer car off a used lot that u know won't have problems and be making monthly payments, or u can buy an cheaper, older car that u will have to sink money into for repairs." its true, i bought the car for $1700 and have put $1000+ into it for repairs in the past year.

the auto ain't got no 1st gear... so it's there but then it's not... so i call it 3 1/2 speed... since first is so variable. I changed all that now though... I just wish I could hold 1st past redline like all the other gears.
