you want to knw the funny thing about all this...it cost more to SHIP the motors back here to teh states then they actually pay for them...lol...like a B20a might cost $100us in Japan...then another $$$$ to ship it back here...lol

b20aTURBO is the one selling these motors. he wants 1200 but he said he'd lower the price if I get a group of 4 people together.

how much lower?? and what is so special about the b20? is that the dohc version of ours now?

I don't know how much lower b20aTURBO will go. the b20 is a dohc non vtec 2.0 litre motor with 160hp stock. they came in the jdm version of our cars. good motor to do a swap with without having to modify the engine bay to make it fit. I'll email him again and see if I can't get the price for a group buy of 4 people.
if i was to buy the b 20 what else would i need? computer, mounts. i have no idea what i would be doing!! everything is stock in a 87 dx 5 spd.
Tranny, mounts... I can't remember what else. You wouldn't need an ECU from what I hear.
just to make sure, is your car fuel injected, or carbed. If carbed you would need ecu, wiring harness. also with FI you might need a different ecu but I could be wrong.
I'd be very interested in about 3 wks when my next paycheck comes in. If I haven't found a good body, I will probably look for an engine (like a b20) first. I thought they came with trannies... someone was saying 2 were auto and 2 were 5spd from what they remembered. Another problem is that I don't think ANYONE here is interested in anything bout a 5-speed. I know I'd be interested in buying, but not an auto.
Find out what else we need. I always thought you needed a whole mounting kit (a few places make them for $1000-$1500) Maybe those are for newer models of the JDM b20??
Someone knowledgable must be brought to the thread. If I can use my a20 tranny and ECU let us know (I'd be planning on rebuilding mine to hold way more power anyway, but regardless)... if everything will fit, and a $1100 investment is all there is, hands down (obviously besides labor, connecting exhaust etc), then I'd more than be willing to get a motor and drop it in myself.
Looking forward to a turbo project might be sidetracked getting naturally aspirated power from a b20... I could work with that. Someone? anyone?!
