That's kinda high for normal driving. I shift at around 2.5 for normal driving and when I want to move I go all the way. Not much of a middle ground for me.

hey morpheus, nice profile, but how much can our 4 cylinder accords fuel our addiction for speed?

We have a couple members on this board that are getting close to the 11sec 1/4 mark on the stock engine. One person in particular broke 11 seconds if I am not mistaken. Don't underestimate these cars.

    BTW. Welcome to the board.

Daily driving I shift gears every 4500 rpm and if I fall behind traffic then I go higher 5500.
I drive on 5th gear if the traffic's steady. Just to make up fuel loss from shifting at such high rpm's. :-)
I really don't care too much for gas milage. If I have to put some gas in say 10 or 20 bucks worth then I will (when the price is right).

Ahhh, but on my LXI when I added the DC Sports header, the power stopped dying off at 5700rpms. I had power to redline and more of it period. Adding a header didn't just give me more power, it have me BETTER power. Cause having power to redline made it so when I shifted at redline I was in a better part of the powerband in that next gear, making it even better.

Don't you have a pacesetter header on your car? Maybe the carb'd bit still isnt' letting you have the high end gains with the header like on my LXI.

plus my exhaust is pretty restrictive.. i have to have a silencer in or its way too loud... so that, plus its 2 inch pipe...makes it have very little high end.. but off the line its verystrong

i usualy shift at about 4k in first then around 3k there after. or if i feel like going fast (and i use the term 'fast' loosley) i shift at 6k. nothing more fun than a nice take of with no wheel spin then flooring it and flat changing into second (gota love that chirpy sound).

4000 to 4500 normally. When racing it's all the way to the top... She'll pull all the way to redline, with the power kicking in around 3800 sinking you a bit in your seat.

you said your car kisses redline when you shift from 5500... uh... my car's redline is marked at 6200... do you really jump the rpm that much when shifting?

I shift at 3500 around town, and redline it every gear when racing...

My car is supposed to shift right, but it doesn't, the tranny sucks. It revs up to about 5,000 rpms and then shifts. Oh yah, it's an automatic, does that count.
