Whats wrong???

Okay, it seems like I don't have much power in second gear, and any gear for that matter, especially going up hills. The car wash I took it to, both people who drove it said I needed a new clutch.. you think thats the problem? Also, in every gear, around 3500 rpm, it makes a raspy metallic sound for a second, then goes away..



Also, this is the first manual I ever drove, and I've had it for about a week now. If I floor it in a gear, like actually push the pedal all the way to the floor, are the rpms supposed to jump up real high, without really giving the car more power? It seems as though I have to push it about half way down, and let the rpms and speed rise on their own, til I can shift.

Seems really slow..

do hte revs go up and up but the car doesn't speed up? slipping clutch.

Like everyone else said sounds like a slipping clutch to me! Thats what my dads was doing when his was going too..
