OCTANE?? what is good for me

I get the base unleaded regular. 87 i guess. I have allways used it and doubt i should change. High octane is for high compression engines. This is what i have been told. If i change now to i higher octane fuel will i mess up my engine? I have an 88LX and 89LXI. I mainly drive the LX.

i found that my car pinged like crazy with 87 octane, and it never does with 89.
if you're not having any problems, stick with 87, save a few $$

    Timing

My bro's 89lxi (i drove it today like 130 miles) , it has vibration at 2500 rpms. It runs good, but at 2500 the engine starts to vibrate more than it does at other rpms. Could this be timing? Octane?

    Sounds like motor mounts.

I always run premium, which is 92 octane or 93, and lately I've been adding octane booster to that, I think later on I'll totally switch to 100 octane, and use the cool blue from 76...

Yeah, a lot of people stick w/ 89.
When the car idles and it goes tick tick tick that's knocking when it does that that's bad when you drive it harder i.e. rpm's go up, then kiss your engine goodbye!
It's hard to tell when your driving at high speeds when it does detonate.
If your not sure what gas to use then read the owner's manual.
If your engine vibrates then yeah it's the engine mounts.
