89 octane or better... that 87 stuff sucks

89 only. I've tried everything below it and everything above it, and it always runs best on the 89.

Black '89 Accord LX-i sedan - 436,600 miles and still going strong!
Black/Red '04 Honda CBR 600 F4i -256,100 miles and also counting quick
im runnin el cheapo, as they say on the price is right. i run some cheap ass 87. my grandma pays for my gas card so i never get what i realy want. my friends shop sells VP racing fuel. i think when i get some extra money, im gonna get a few gallons of that. i think its like $4 or $6 something per gallon. maybe this cheap ass fuel is why my car is runnin like i need to clean the carb.
Keep it HONDA. Or at least Asian.™

I run 89.., works the best..using higher wont make a diffrence.. The higher the compression the higher the octane..Stop wasting extra money on higher octane when ur car does not need it!

89 yay yay!
I can SOMETIMES get away with 87 in the winter, but basicalyy I am stuck paying for 89. Engine pings like a son-of-a-bitch on 87. Of course, the LXi has higher compression than the DX or LX. You are supposed to be able to run 87 in those.
I forgot to mention that I think that since we switched to RFG (reformulated gas) in the Dallas area that the octane levels went down. Just an unsubstantiated theory on my part, but I noticed that the Ford Escort we had at the time (1995) which used to be able to use 87 with no problems all of a sudden needed 89 to keep from knocking. I pretty much always needed 89 for my car.
Just another reason that RFG is a big rip off. My gas mileage dropped over 10% when we made the switch, too. Went from 29 average down to 26.
87 works fine for me. no reason to waste my money on anything more

I run 91 or higher due to advanced timing and running lean (not good) but need a propane enrichment kit to determine air/fuel ratio. Got no O2 sensor either. Plus I run her hard... need to lower cylinder/combustion pressures.
She does run very hot though from the fuel. (not good again)
Hey, I need all the power I can get and she's still running strong!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I got a 9.1-1 compression ratio.
The manual recommends 91 or higher.
Convienced?

The best mods are mods that can be modded over and over again.
I use 87. Runs just fine. One time I filled up using premium and noticed little difference. It just ran a bit smoother.
87...cause it's cheap, just like me:lol

All generalizations are false.
arn't you supposed to run the octane that it reccomends? i used 89
the manual says 86 octane, but considering it was 1988, gas was different then. strictly 93 for me though, i do notice that it runs smoother and cleaner.
