engine codes and how to find where they are!

Hey guys how do you check codes and stuff from the engines computer???

no i need to know where i can see the screen or whatever it is that tells me the codes. WHere is it?

screen that tells you the codes? uhmmm theres a little blinky light. but mind you these cars are pre obd-1

ok how do i find where the blinky light is? Where in the car is it located is all i need to know.

It's right on the back of the ECU. Just look under the drivers seat from the back seat (may want to move the seat forward), and there's a little rectangular flap, or door that will flip down. Stick a fingernail or something in the top of that and flip it down, and that's where the little red LED light is. Now turn the key to the RUN position (don't start it up), then go back and count the codes. fast blinks = code #. Short pause = break between 2 digits of a 2 digit code # -- put those 2 digits together to make the code (ex. 1 fast blink, short pause, 3 fast blinks = code 13). Long pause = break between codes, as there may be several
