My PGM-FI light comes on... I read the codes and it is code 12, I think. The LED flashes 12 times real fast, pauses, and then flashes 12 times real fast, pauses, etc... Isnt it supposed to flash 1 long and 2 short and then repeat like on GM cars??
If it is code 12, is it usually the EGR valve, the passages, the sensor or what, based on what you have seen on your cars?
I only got 227k miles on my 87 LXi.... how can it mess up so early?? lol. Actually, its been doing this for a long time.
just get another one from the jy and try it, its probably the egr sensor

There could be a piece of carbon preventing the pintle from fully seating. The sensor just watches the position of the pintle. You could unbolt the EGR valve and try to clean it. People do that all the time to EGR's...
Can anybody tell me where the EGR valve and sensor are located? I am getting the same code...

I got the same problem with my 88 lx-i w/230,000 miles on it. I tried to find the EGR valve on my car but the Haynes manual only shows its location on a carbed model so any info on where its at and how to take it out would really help.
i dont know were the valve is but i have the same problem on my car any help would be very much appreciated thank you

I don't know whose engine is in this pic, but that should be the lift sensor on top of the egr valve. You should see a tube running to the exhaust manifold connected to the valve.
