a headers always a good idea in my opinion. and as far as fucking up the egr, just find a header that will connect to it, or you could always just block off the egr. I don't know what kind of negative effect blocking the egr could have, but I know people have done it. you shouldn't have any problem with the o2 sensor though.

I'd go with a header. I dont have one on my car but i know someone who does and there is a real difference.

I would recommend a DC Sports Header. Dont get a Pacesetter. Pacesetter=Bad
Thinking about getting a new 3g...

Pacesetter is good if you do not intend on keeping your car for more than say two years. They are a hell of a lot cheaper than DC sports, witch I think are overated and overpriced.

I agree DC is the way to go if you want a header.. it's amore money but worth it if you plan on keeping your car.....

They headers wouldn't block the EGR or O2 sensor. I blocked my EGR and I got much better throttle response. If it is still CARB legal I don't know.

might not even pass visual inspection. i just had smog test done, and at first they wouldn't even smog me, b/c when i swap to accel coil, i had wires exposed, so i taped them up. then they said i didn't have my heat shield on, so i had to go home and put it back.

huh... the guy I go to doesn't do a visual inspection, he just hangs the tester in the muffler and takes the readings... he sometimes plays with the idle, but that's about it...

so except for a visual inspection, would it pass smog??

I don't think it will. I'm not sure but it will probably be close to pass/ not pass.

Man emissions testing must suck. That intake you have will probably not pass the visual either. No EGR will kill the test. I am very very lucky I have never lived in a state with testing. I like to rip emission systems off cars, it makes them happy.

Well you can block the EGR pipe by putting a nickel in front of it, then clap it to the header.

Or you can weld it shut. Get the header and use some wrap to keep the heat where it should be.
