    Resetting ECU?

I want to reset my ECU before I replace my EGR valve and gasket because I read that might help. How do I do this? Seeing as I have had pep boys retard my timing from 31.5 degrees to I think a proper 18 or somewhere close to that. I have changed the fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, and my car is still throwing code twelve, lacking power, and missing below 3000 rpms.

Look for the ecu fuse in the fuse box under the hood. Take it off for a few minutes. Put it back, start car and let idle for a while.
Or you can take off the battery terminal, but you'll need to reset your radio after that.

How about unplugging the sensor altogether? How does it drive then?
