    Question Difference between 16" and 17" on a 3g

I want to buy some rims by the end of the summer... and I know that if I get 16"s they will be cheaper for the rims, and especially for the tires... so I just want to see some pics of peoples 3geez with 16s, and 17s to see how big of a difference there is,.

and also, what is the lug pattern for 3gs?

Lug pattern is 4x100 and you should have at least a 40 mm offest on the wheel, though on my rims it's less and as a result i had to roll the rear fenders. Look in sig for pic of 16s with 205/40 tires.

Here is my Accord with 16's. I like 16's, kinda wished I had gotten 17's, but they still look good. And you can slam it with 16's

I kinda like what Hostile did with his car. 16's with that size tire and a good stance gives it a real race look to it.

Or it could be the bright blue racing stripe

I hope it will look even better when I'm finished lowering it. It's getting a 2" drop.

I did not like the performance that the 17's gave me back when I had them on there. To much mass to turn... Plus if you get 17's you have to run thinner tires if you want to keep the stock tire height. I love my 16's with 205/45 tires. IMO 17's dont look right unless you drop your ride. Here are some pics that may sway your decision...

This is the 17inch chrome ALT's with 205/40 tires.

    This is it lowered.

    Stock Height

Same with the 16" Enkei CDR9's with 205/45 tires.

Depends what you wanna do with your car. IMO 16's are more functional for racing for our cars. But on the other hand a nice set of 17's look alot better. You have to decide which direction you wanna go with your car. I had a mazda 626 that i randomly thru pieces on as i got the money and the finished product isnt what i really wanted. Make a wish list, diagrams, and pictures of your and what parts you want where and do the research on every area. Then youll have a better idea of what you wanna end up with and your finish product will reflect your hard work and planning.

PS. Dont get stuff just cuz the "ricer" scene has it. Thats usually the most wrong reasons to get stuff.

Morpheus may be right. I had a 4th Gen Accord sittin next to my car to day and i noticed that the body is slightly bigger on the 4th Gens. Meaning that they should have 17's due to size. But our car is relatively small compared to newer cars and 17's are large lookin. Plus 16's with the tires HostileJava has are a good nice race look.

Don't worry, I have made plans for the car, I want it to handle really well, because I want to possibly do autocross which happens a fair bit here.. and therefor I decided that I will go with 16's although I am not sure how long it will be till I get them because I need other things done first.

And 87AccordsterLx, your pics are just showin up as red X's... but I want to see them, so please fix them if you can. And Kicker, I love the way your wheels look on your car.. Thats what I want mine to look like....

And one last thing... what would be the right series tire for 16's??.. 40 or 45's??

I have had both and i like the overall look with the 17's on my car. I have had 16's on my first accord which were not to bad but partially didnt look so bad because the suspension sagged a bit. But for sure with any wheels lowering is a must. Here is my 1st accord way back when i was in high school on 16x7.5's:

The here is my current accord on 17x7's:

The only thing i liked about the 16s was that they were 7.5 wide which looked better but rubbed a bit.

I currently have 17's and I love the look and hate the ride.. I guess it all depends where you live.. The roads here are not made for low profile tires.. Too many potholes.. But on smooth roads it should not be a problem.

Ya, I have the same situation here, and I mean our summer is like 3 months at the most LOL... so the rims would be on like %40 of the year if I am lucky, But 17's would just get eatin up by our shitty roads...

And damnit Rob, every time I see pics of your red accord, it makes me want 17's, but the fact that the car will be lowered 1"/1.5" at the most, I don't think 17's would look great, and definately not ride great on our roads.

Thats all i have for a drop right now is 1.5. Im gonna go a bit lower to even out the front but yes i do agree the ride is not as good as it could be. Although its 10x better with the Koni struts so i cant complain cause it was horrible with tokicos on even stock rims/tires. My 16's rode good on the stock suspension but i had a size 50 tire on it so it had something to absorb the harsh road.

Hmmm.. well the stock springs and Tokico's ride fine right now, I am just having a problem with clunking noises from the front end, they are pretty bad, and don't feel so good. And this is after the ball joints were replaced, camber was fixed, and I got an alignment. So i really need to figure that out before I get rims, or the springs... And I think that a 1" drop will be ok with the tokico's, and 45 series tires on 16's.

I have debated on getting 16's which i may for the track when the turbo setup is complete. And for a daily driver i would say stick to 16's and at least a 45 series tire because pretty much every where you go the streets will be in rough shape and can be a problem with 17s on a 40 series tire.

Your allot better off on the stock springs. Tokico's are high performance struts but only against stock springs. All lowering springs are stiffer. You'd think only a 1" drop would mean mild lowering springs, not the case at all, their plenty stiff. The more you want your ride quality to stay the best it can be the less you should consider lowering springs on tokico struts. Kyb GR-2 are gonna be worse btw, their just oem replacements. Your best bet it to see if you can get yourself on a backorder list for Koni struts and hope you got in on the list soon enough before their all gone, forever. (Koni's have been discontinued for those that don't know yet).
H&R springs revalved Bilstein front struts, koni struts in the rear 195/55-15 Dunlop W-10's Dc Sports header custom cat-back with Dynomax super turbo w/3" Brembo slotted & dimpled rotor's EBC pads

Ya, I know Koni's were discontinued, but I do not have the money right now to buy them.. So I will have to live without them, and the car is already bad in the winter at the height it is now, so I probably wont bother.
