Unhappy What Mods for Carbed Autos???

As you guyz allready know, the aftermarket has little support when comes to 3rd Gen Accords. I want a good balance of performance and looks for my ride but in the performance area im really really having a hard time finding mods for this car. Ive seen the post for carbs and cold air intakes but thats not the direction im lookin for. I wanna be able to contend with some of the newer modded cars. Not do hundreds of dollars in mods to my car to beat a stock Civic or Eclipse. Ive looked around. NoS isnt supported for carbed cars. So whats my next option??

Could the guyz with carbs with auto trannys plz post some of their mods. That would be a great help... and the the other guyz too so that i can get an idea of what to do.

BTW... I have an 86 Lx thats an auto. (carb)

nos is supported. do some more reading.

Do the normal I/H/E Get a performance carb. Ie)webber Port and polish. upgrade internals. stock A20's can usually handle a 40 or 50shot of NAWZZZ. If i understand it right, you need a 'wet' system, its like this plate that sits on..or under? the intake? im not to sure on the details, but spraying a carb'd car can be done.

There is a nos fogger plate for the weber.
    It sits under the carb.

Get the 38 DGES Weber carb along with the 89 accord weber adapter plate. and Port the intake manifold.

Also look into getting a cam regrind, header, and full exhaust, with a decent muffler.

    my mods are here

if you want to race civics and eclipse, and win, you better spend a few hunder dollars on mods. You need to spend more like $1000 and more.

Actually Shep I plan on spending around 2 thousand on performance. Thats after the 2 thousand in making sure the cars is going to be here for the performance upgrades. Like rebuilding the engine and stuff. The rebuild is pretty high on my priority list cuz its running bad and i dont feel like changin this part one week then changin another one next week.

How much weight does the Xenon kit add. I really like the way it looks and if i can get by with it I will put it on. I figure after 2 or 3 thousand in performance upgrade the kit cant be that bad.

If you plan on spendng that kind of money get an 84-87 prelude 5 speed Si manual tranny and do a 5 speed conversion (don't forget a decent clutch) the buy a webber and while you are rebuilding get some high comp pistons you should also upgrade your cam, ignition and get headers pacesetter ceramic should be good and a 2.25 mandrel bent exhaust you may also consider a P&P for the head.

1988 Starter: Are you saying I cant get the performance I want out of this car? Is the prelude that much better cuz by sight they look pretty much the same.

BTW- Why would i buy a manual tranny Prelude and then do a 5 speed conversion also . Plz clarify.

Because the lude tranny has way better gear ratios than the accord tranny. It will make it seem like you are going faster, quicker.

Oh sorry. I read his post wrong. I thought he meant go and buy a Prelude, LOL.

How hard is a 5speed conversion. Seems like alot of uneeded work when these cars are easily brought at around $1000 to $2500.

    Rebuilt engine

    Osiris,

If you are going to spend that kind of money and want to rebuild your engine, might I suggest that you check out this website for an engine that is already rebuilt by a machine shop that builds race engines day in and day out. http://www.rpmrons.com If you call them and tell them what you want they will machine to your specs as well. Deffinately worth the call. They also have very good prices and there is no core charge for your old engine.

I checked that site TECHNO, thats the best prices have seen so far. Around $1300 for a complete engine.

Im not an engine guy tho (computer networker by profession) and I dont know what "specs" to give them. Could someone tell me whats good to tell a rebuild shop.

Just tell them your goals and how much you can afford. For example, if you want to go forced induction whether it be nitrous, turbo, supercharger. Do you want 350hp from 1000 bucks...? Be realistic and ask their recommendations.

    Osiris,

How much do you want out of this car? Do you want to race and beat everyone else on the street, of do you want to just have more HP?
Also, how much money are you willing to spend on this car? If you want an all out racer then get a rebuilt engine shortblock from www.rpmrons.com and tell them that you want it rebuilt to withstand racing. Then get a full race head from www.gude.com. Then to top that off get a weber 32/36 carb from http://www.carbsunlimited.com/Weber/weber.htm and get the short ram air intake from the same site while you are at it. If that is not enough then work on getting a 'wet' nos fogger system. If you do all this you will need to get the power to the wheels. Get a high performance clutch plate and a lightwheight flywheel as well. There is quite a bit that can be done to our cars. It just takes money and time.

You can use the A20A3 motor... just remove the A20A1 intake manifold and cab and stick it on the A20A3. The heads are the same.
