Vibration when I come to a stop.

When I come to a stop while my car vibrate like hell, but if I switch into neutral or park it stops. I recently had my idle speed adjusted and it's idling where it's supposed to be. I know someone else who has another Accord identical to mine (same engine and year) and hers does the same. Is it normal for it to vibrate some much because its old?

nope you probably have a vacuum leak... but check the other things like oil, fuel filters, spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, just in case.

    They're where it's supposed to be. Around 750 - 800.

    check engine mount?

    :smokin:
did you check your engine mount? i got the same problem as you before. it turns out the front engine mount is broken.

and somebody tell me bad tranny can also cause this kind of trouble. if you put on N or P, the car is quiet. you'd better think about the transmission.

    hope those infor helpful

so the idle speed doesn't drop when you press the brake?

hey man if it idles fine in neutral and park and shakes in gear all you have to do is turn the screw behind the accelerator pump, it causes vacuum to boost idle when the car is in gear, simple as that

It doesn't always vibrate. I'd say about 70% of the time it does and the rest it doesn't. But the only time it doesn't vibrate it is idling at about 800 (on colder days it tends to do this). But the only reason as to why it stops when it's out of gear is because when I put it in P or N it idles at about 800.

If the idle drops when you press the brake, whats wrong? If I press it repeatedly several times the idle drops.

mine does the same thing. i just changed the engine mounts, spark plugs, and the pcv valve. it's not as bad now but it still vibrates a lot when it's in gear, especially with the air conditioner on. idle always stays around 750...

what screw is this? is this on the LX-i?

it seems to be doing better now. it still vibrates in gear at idle, but i notice that when i put the air conditioner on, instead of the idle dropping a little, it now goes up a little. all the other times it stays around 750, but with the air on it goes to about 800.

it's a knob on the other end (close to the firewall). Put the ebrake on and the car in gear and adjust it SLOWLY

i can't find it. you're not talking about the idle screw in the throttle body, are you? i adjusted that and now it idles faster in park but it still vibrates in gear. (edit: i put it back like it was because when i would shift into drive or reverse, the whole car would jerk as if the idle was too high.)

you have an LX-I, so you won't have all the adjustment screws that the carb has.

does the LX-i have any screw to adjust the idle when it's in gear? i found the one to idle up when the air conditioner's on and the one for the idle in park...
