    idle problem

When I cranked my car up a while ago (88 Accord LX) it idled fine for about 5 minutes while it was sitting still and in neutral, but as soon as I put it in first and pushed down the clutch, the rpms dropped to like 100 and the car almost died...then they shot back up to 2000 and then right back down to 100...it did this over and over until it died... what could be causing this....do i need a carb adjustment? any suggestions... thanks

wow ur from north carolina!!!!! so anyways, i guess u have a vacuum leak. check for hoses that are not connected and esp look under the filter box. check your egr valve and if its leaking, change it/fix it. how are your drivebelts? and the worst case senario is your carb is dying like all others
