I am looking for a DOHC ZC out of the 86-89 Integras to swap into my '91 CRX. If anyone has one let me know. I would like to trade my '89 LXI that needs tranny work(otherwise in good shape) for an engine.

you definetly dont want a 86-89 TEG motor.. they will NOT fit... if you have an HF CRX you are in for a bit of wiring and some suspention shit, but if you have a Si then it will be a breeze... anyway, look around locally for an engine importer.. you can usually get one for about 400 bucks with very low miles on it.. but what ever you do.. dont get one from an 86-89 teg. they arent even close to the same

I have an SI and I've been told by several people that it it bolt right in and I can even use my existing tranny. Why wouldn't it fit? Its the exact same engine that came in the JDM CRX.

Like I said it will work the only difference is that it is the JDM version. I've been researching and have found plenty of pages of guys detailing the swap. I also know a guy who has owned his CRX for 15 yrs and use to be a professional autocrosser, I think he knows his shit.
the fact is... the USDM 1st gen Integra motor wont fit!
you will need to find an imported JDM CRX or CIVIC motor

DXHATCHBACK is right. the 1st gen teg enwine will NOT fit... JDM or USDM. You need a ZC engine from an EF Civic, not an integra.
Back in the days, Honda really liked to give the same name to similar but yet different engines.. you really have to pay attention to which engine you'll be getting. You don't want that sohc carbed ZC engine![]()

dude, you should just go with the first gen b16a. thats what i got in my 90 crx. fucker hauls ass
ZC engine is not worth a shit.
Alex.
the ZC engine is a great engine for the price... there are alot of parts available for the D15/16 that will fit the ZC and its a great engine that makes a great deal of power per dollar... now if he wanted to B16, that would be alot of cash for minimum gains in the TQ department and alot more HP, but i would say that he should stick with a semi built ZC...
ZC engine with headers, CAI, cams, FPR, and a 55 shot of ZEX.. that should be good for a 13ish second quarter mile

dave - 87hybrid has an dohc pgmfi integra ZC motor in his 87 civic....
im sure its all from a teg, not from a civic... but oh well...
anyway read up at www.homemadeturbo.com they deal a lot with those engines, and i am sure those guys could tell you if its possible or not. since i was always under the impression that it was, coupled with seeing davids swap. but now carot is saying you cant. and he knows his shit better than me!so i guess you need more opinions
the shop that I uually go through got one infor a civic about a week ago. Its called for but it hs omething tat I wasnt aware was made. It had a dual carb setup. Looked stock. I coulod ask but theres no gaurentee.
I've asked guys who have done the ZC swap and the told me that I will work. I've asked people on CRXSI.com and the told me it will works so whats up w/ everyone telling me it won't work. It is not a SOHC carbed engine. I found one in a local junkyard that is a DOHC fuel injected. I would like a B16 but that takes alot of work and money compared to a ZC swap. I just want a DOHC engine that I can build up and put a turbo on it- If I did that it would be pushing around 200 hp.
He has an 87 civic.... they are different.. see.87hybrid has an dohc pgmfi integra ZC motor in his 87 civic

just to clarify things...a 86-89 TEG motor IS a de tuned USDM version of the JDM ZC
they are identical in all aspects minus teh mounts, and internal aspects...teh USDM has regular pistons where teh ZC has domed pistons to raise the compression...
all teh parts swap back and forth from teh ZC to teh usdm TEG
ie timnig belt, water pump, pullys, etc...
nothing
