    Question Stereo Wattage

:super: Okay who has a pumpin or rockin system in their 3G? I need to ask you a question. My amplifier is only 300w and I have two twelves, pair of 6x9's and only one door panel speaker. I've blown two alternators in my car in the past 3 months. I'm sure that more people out there have more than 300watts bumpin the trunk . My next project was to first get a new alternator, I think why I blew the other two was because they were remanufactured. This time I'm getting a new one. I'm gonna hook up one 300w amp to one of the twelves and get another 300w amp for the other "12. But first I have to know if anyone is out there using a 1000w amp, because if you can run that with no problem, my next project should be within the working parameters, in advance thanx :super: :pimp:

    i have 400Watt Alpine system.
200W 4 channel amp powering 4 speakers and 200watt amp powering single 12" type-S SUB.
if i was you, i would run 300watt amp to the 6x9 and get something bigger for the amps.
i haven't had any problems with my system at all. make sure you have good battery.

sounds like faulty wiring someplace else. your alternator should be able to handle that much power. try a cap too.

I had 900 watts running on a 65amp rebuild, big batt and caps, and I TOASTED it in a year, I ended up getting a 150 amp made.

Was that a custom alt, the way pepboys explained it to me, the 65amp alt was the only alt for the LXi. I wanted to price one of the bigger amped alts for my car, but they said the only one for my car was the standard OEM alt..:pimp:

i had 1250wrms running on a rewound accord alt wound to 140 amps. I think it only put out about 115 120 when hot but man i never drained the stock battery and it only dimmed at idle, it wouldnt put out any decent power until like 1500rpms. Oh yea and thats with no capacitors.

the box only said 165 watts I would imagine that was each it would be weak for that a pair and jensen makes some decent speakers! so I will be running 495 watts what do you think the rms is??

oh I didn't read the whole post (I hate people that do that :lol)
I had 300 watts to my 12's and 50 per corner and that setup went fine on the stock alternator for about 2 years, your problems are probably related to a short circuit or other factors (maybe the alt is getting wet or too much heat or a short etc, make sure the charge wire isn't touching the manifold or its braces)
