    prelude keihins

I went to the junkyard the other day and I couldnt help noticing all the keihin sidedrafts on the 85-86 preludes,I looked many over and I am wondering if they will work, the motor is the a20 correct?the vaccum system looks like it would be hard to mess with but it seems like it would bolt right on,price is $60 for the manifold and both carbs,is it possible to convert,is it even worth it?

    nope, manifold won't bolt up.
prelude had different head. you can swap the head if you want. you can get weber dual sidedrafters for prelude head very easy.
there is a company that make intake manifold for prelude.

so if thats the case, then why are people getting custom manifolds made when you could use the whole head of a lude and just get some webers for the manifold??

there is very little diff. prelude head has one small exhaust valve that A20 heads don't have.
i would assume that the reason people do custom intake manifolds because they don't want to mess with heads. a lot of people want bolt on stuff.
Prelude head on A20 block will give you slitly higher compression ratio.

the second exhaust valve is very small. i don't think you will need pictons.
Mike (a20a1) has a link to prelude with A20 block and prelude head.

that car is sweet. My friend who is a mechanic said those side drafts were a pain to get to. Hes probaly talking in stock form tho.

sheperd79: are you saying that the head will bolt right on w/ no problem allowing you to add the intake and dual carb setup?

Ill attempt that if you say yes.

If that is so. What else on that engine is compatible also or will the whole engine bolt up?

it should bolt up with no problem. A20 block is the same as A18 except it is bored out.
it is like taking B18 head and dropping on B16 block.
