    Exclamation Signature Updating

We have become quite lazy in enforcing our signature rules. Since we require signature images to be around 20kb, I deleted any sig image I could find that was over 30kb (using the file size estimates provided by Internet Explorer). Don't bitch, I could have gone through and been alot stricter.

Also, We have received some complaints about excessively long text signatures. I have also deleted some of those that I saw, as well as a few that have been specifically reported. If you had a text signature and it was deleted, PM me if you would like a copy of the text so you can shrink it to a more managable size. I have each of them saved.

Finally, I deleted some sig images that were huge to the point of absurdity.

If anyone sees any more that I may have missed, let me know.

Finally, lets hear a big round of applause for Maurice for finally having a signature that is within the limits
    - Joe

yeah, sometimes the signatures take up more area than the writing in the threads themselves.

Right clicking the image in Internet Explorer shows a file size over 30kb.

Do you seriously think I'm bullshitting you? If it would make you feel better I can go through the board and delete everyhing over 25kb. I thought I was being fairly reasonable. In any case, this is what I see when you have your sig. Over 30kb END OF STORY.

That is NOT over 30KB. To be exact, it is 29.806316KB. If you don't believe me, then go here:

I am not trying to fight at all. I am trying to stand up formyself when I see that I did absolutely nothing wrong according to this thread.

Isn't it a moot point anyway since the actual limit that was established long ago was 20kb? I still like the idea of limiting the dimensions of the image to 100x500 pixles as well.

And it's not over 30! I suggest he uses knowlege rather than assumptions before he goes through a message board of almost 2,500 people! And if you want to go the route of attacking people, your avatar is ugly! Stop hurting our eyes with your pink frilly dancing man!

Yes, you are right. But there are tons of members with signatures over 20kb. I am not going to name names, so see for yourself. Why should I be any different than any of them? My signature is under 30kb, as Joe said in his criteria.

I don't really give a shit what the size converts to. This is the standard that I have used since the very beginning and quite frankly, it is the only standard that matters here. Everyone is subjected to it, and it applies to every single member of this board. Marc himself imposed the 20kb rule, but because of exactly these discrepancies in how you measure the picture file size, I changed it to "around 20kb". Then tonight I went even more lenient and left everything alone that was under 30kb USING THE SAME STANDARD OF MEASUREMENT THAT THIS BOARD HAS ALWAYS BEEN SUBJECTED TO. I am not going to sit here and download everyone's sig pics and then look up their sizes. It is much more practical just to right click the image. And as you have demonstrated to us, the difference is miniscule.

Since we require signature images to be around 20kb, I deleted any sig image I could find that was over 30kb (using the file size estimates provided by Internet Explorer).
You fit exactly into what I explained in the very first post in this thread. This discussion is OVER. If I see that image in your sig again, I will delete it and you will lose your ability to edit your profile indefinitely. For the last time, END OF STORY

    ahem....

I agree with Joe. He was being nice by saying 30kb or under. Because he was being nice, some users will push for "a little over 30kb." Personally, I am all for making it 20kb and that is it, but we have been allowing a Kb or here leniency..

It doesn't matter if another way determines it's under 30kb, if OUR way doesn't show it, then it's not under 30kb. We chose a particular way of measuring it and that is what we're going to stick to..

The whole "give an inch and they will take a mile" is very relevant in this argument.
I'm just like any other member on this board.......
