    K20a2

    hmm i was thinkin about getting an engine swap but im not sure if im over or under-estimating the capabilties of ym 88 accord lx. I was thinkin about getting a K20A2 engine, for those of you who dont knoww hat that si, it is the same engine that is in a rsx type s, it is 200hp with a sqaure base, but it is one fo those new engines that everyone is just now starting to come up with mods for, and dont know much about it, and also im not sure if it would fit, but if you guys have any suggestions what would be a good ngine to put in my 88 accord lx?

    I was told the K20C was the RSX typeS motor but anyways. Yes this motor will fit just like any other motor you can think of. As long as you got the CASH$$$$$$$$$ you can make any motor fit in the accord. This project will be harder and alot more expensive than the H22A. All K-series motor's spin in the opposite direction of other honda engines. The motor will be on the other side of the engine bay and will require some funky mounts and not to mention that the K20 is way more expensive than a H22A.

    Good Luck.

    K20a2 is a dope ass motor, best one Honda makes, Ive been in the marke for one for six months, and the cheapest I found was 7 grand for the swap.... If you want the ultimate, and have the fab skills, it would be a dope install. Good luck!:super:

    Seriously guys, the i-VTEC swaps are way out of scope for our cars. When considering what you pay for the swap compared to the power you get out, it is much more cost effective to try to swap a b-series engine which is still gonna cost about 5-6 grand easy and that will yield anywhere from 160 to 200 hp again depending on how much you want to spend on what type of b-series motor. With the k-series I have no idea.....maybe $10k for 200 hp. That 3-4 grand can buy a lot more mods for your car. Personally, I would read some of the other posts on this board regarding the JDM B20A swap. It's the closest thing to a "drop-in" swap you can get. It yeilds 160 hp(non-vtec) and the swap are MUCH less than any b-series. The only problem is locating a true JDM B20A. Hope that helps, but read the B20A posts and ask some of the administrators of this board who have done the swap, they can give you much more info than me.

    *shakes head* this is what happens when you give a kid a car after he sees F&F......

    go for it buddy. if you got the cash...you should have just bought the RSX straight out. like pric said---with enuff $$$ you can put anything in any car. but run a search on the H22 and best bet is to just FORGET about the k swap. seriously. id be willing to bet you dont have that kinda cash to throw around.

    if you DO wanna throw 30 k into a car........look up darkhonda89's ride. that shit placed in NOPI competitions.......

    K20A = Civic R/ JDM Integra
    K20A2 = RSX Type-S
    K20A3 = Base RSX/Civic Si

    In any case, there's way too much work to get a K20 series engine in. Like everyone says, get a B series swap or an H22 if you really want it.

    10,000 dollars for 200hp is pretty damn stupid if you consider it.....
    But its cool if you want to be original i guess....you could probably get 200hp with half of that money...but its up to you..

    got $10k sitting around for a k swap? i think they're making educated guesses (that it sounds like are probably true) based on what every other 10-post n00b on this site has posted about their big plans for the most original 3g swap idea ever. don't take it as harsh criticism, just try to understand.. people that have been on the board a while have heard it all, especially in the swap section.

    hehe

    anyways man i wouldnt waste the money on a K20 (unless of course you have the money to WASTE) but seroiusly this is one time that i would have to agree with ppl in the forum, Its a waste of money becuase for less than half the amount of a K20a you could get a H22a type-s and they have 220hp, and with the extra money that you would... well just imagine what you could do. so basically i would avoid a K20a unless i gat a really really really good deal on them

    I have to chime in here. The point of swapping in the K20A is not to enjoy it stock. Stock it's after all ~160 WHP. The beauty of the K-series engines lies in their incredible response to tuning. Valvesprings, retainers, cams, light porting, ITB's, K-Pro, a good header and TUNING will give you 240 to the wheels easily (of course on pump gas). Even 280 WHP is attainable from the K20A engine; overboring, pistons, rods and possibly stroking (if you're brave) will get you there.

    i thought it was 160 crank hp. but yah, try to find acessories for a b swap, it'd be mush better since the motors are cheaper and many have sucessfully done that swap.

    The base RSX has the same worthless K20A3 POS Civic Si change-eveything-because-it's-so-weak powerplant and outputs 160 BHP at the flywheel (~140 WHP). But the Type-S has the sturdy K20A2 that outputs 200 BHP. The JDM K20A (DC5 Integra-R and Accord Euro-R (?)) outputs 220 BHP (~180 WHP) if my memory serves me right (other cams, intake manifold fuel/ignition tables; possibly other differences (pistons?) also).
