    Painted Taillights

    ?,

I have a white and red 1988 honda accord with custom white and red interior. I want to paint my taillights a clear or transparent color. Almost, like the Altezza lights for a 4g accord. What type of paint(s) should I use. I want something that is going to stay on permanently with no chipping. Are there any paints out there that won't chip. The reason, I want to paint my tails clear is to put super red bulbs in for turn signals, brake and parking lights. Then I want to paint the area where my reverse light comes on, red so I can put a super white bulb in. Can I do this? Would this be hot or wack...?

    holla back...

hehehe, well you've asked the question many have asked. the good thing is you can have those tails, the bad thing is you will have to make them. you can't paint your tails clear. there have been some guys on here that have white and red tails and they can help you out better than me. you said your car is white, do you have the black trim around it or is it painted white? i would recommend using candy apple red paint and painting your tails. they look a lot better in red if your car is white.

I tinted the top part of my tails with a tint spray, called nightshades. Comes out like this. Looks better than stock.

89accord..you know what, i like the white and red tails better. so you mean paint the top half of the tails white and do the bottom half red. i like this better. what type of paints should i use. the trim on the doors is white and the trim on the front and back bumper is red. so let me know what paints i should get. i want to do this this weekend.

    holla

dag kid!! those look tight. and to swiftly, i'm not totally sure what you mean. somebody here has white/red tails, but i don't remember who it is. i'm thinking that is what you are going for, so yeah it won't be bad. the only thing about his tails was that he made them instead of painting them. check out the stuff that iloveJDM mentioned and see what you think.

not to dis 88ex-i but you got a lot of overspray on the top of the driver's side light. should have masked that off more carefully and i would have painted the lower ones and then clear coated them so they'd match perfect.

It looks pretty good just a little more attention to detail IMO
