    Universal fans?

Anyody have a universal fan setup?
I'm sick of my condensor fan crapping out and it would be nice to just replace the fans with 2 good units but I have no idea what would fit since it's so cramped in there.

Just looking for the biggest matching pair I can fit in there. Saw some at www.summitracing.com

that one's $80 for the 12", can I go bigger?

    shite nobody does I guess
After measuring it looks like a dual 12" unit is about the biggest you can go but the depth is limited on one side to about 3.5" b/c of the header.
    Time for some fan huntin'

I know that the 3G and 4G accord fans are similar. I put my fan off the 87 onto my brothers 90 accord.

I can get the dual fan setup of the one pictured above for $140 or this flexalite one with timers and a/c relay and shroud for $226

I have noticed that almost all of the aftermarket body parts sites sell a fan/shroud assembly to replace the secondary (condensor) fan for about $60. It is an exact fit unit for the factory one.

I personally installed one of the fans that you pictured above on a 2g Accord SEi for a friend a few years ago. It worked great. I just wired it right to the existing leads. I don't much like the plastic "zippy" things that actually goe through the radiator fins to hold the thing in place, though. I would go with one of the fans from the aftermarket body parts sites if it were up to me.

There are other sites, but take a look at this...

    Good luck!

nah man if I fork over $70 for another one of those shits I'd rather get those fans pictured at that price, thanks anyways man.

BTW, do you know any other replacement body part sites like that that sell 3gee parts?

Really, I found several by keying "aftermarket auto body parts" into Yahoo.

BTW, my condensor fan is still original. It crapped out on me once about 5 years ago. I found that jiggling the wires made it come on so I opened up the motor and soldered new leads from inside to the harness plug. It has worked fine ever since. Like I said I don't like that "zip tie" fastener system that the universal fans use. The one I put into the friend's car (just like the one at the top of this post) was $55 at Auto Zone and made an awfully nice breeze.

I should mention that my fan was out for quite a while before I noticed it while doing something under the hood. The car never ran hot. I did notice that once I fixed the fan I got slightly colder air out of the A/C while stopped. Had a friend who wrecked the front of his 88 T-Bird. The fan shroud was wrecked and he had to take it off. The car would run hot in traffic and then he switched to synthetic oil and it lowered the temp almost 50 degrees. I use synth also. Maybe that's why I never noticed the fan being out.
