Is there a simple method to determine wheter it's the inner or outer CV joint "clicking" or do you just need an extra set of ears while driving in a parking lot????

if its click, 9 times out of ten its the outer cv joint, the inner one rarely goes. Question is, does it clck when you turn left or when you turn right? or is really annoying and do it all the time? crawl under and take a peek, are any boots split? if so then thats the culprit.
get someone to drive your car in a wide open parking lot and you stand on the side. Tell them to drive in front of you (coming from the left or right going to other way) and press the brakes and then turn the car left then right over and over to see which one it is..When you get done with that I would get under the car and then compare the inner to the outer and what the condition of it is....
