    Need some advice...

I'm looking at some new rims, and I am looking at 17 x 7, with a 4 x100 lug, with 205/40 series tires.

I just want to make sure they would fit ok and if that is a good tire size to go with, and do I need to worry about the offset...

i have 18"s now, and am just worried about downsizing, and would I need to adjust the camber at all, and do you think the car would sit lower with the 17"s?

Thanks for the help, I need to know asap, for the tire package is only on sale until Sunday for an awesome price...

Well I think that the 17" will only be maybe a 1/2" smaller. My 17" are 23.5" in diameter and I think the smallest 18" are 24" in diameter. So your car will only be 1/4" lower to the ground and you shouldn't need a realinement.

205/40-17 is the ONLY proper plus size in 17". All other sizes are to tall. Plus when you get into 215mm width's in 17 your not ony going taller, but you make getting 45mm offset a absolute must. But 45mm offsets are harder to find. 40mm offset will work with 205/40-17 perfectly, it's the correct size and it is correct in terms of being hassle free with 40mm offset, no rubbing, no worries.

    Oem rolling diameter is 23.2"
    205/40-17 is 23.5" tall or +1.1%
    215/40-17 is 23.8" tall or +2.4%
    215/35-18 is 23.9" tall or +3.1%

Your car will sit about 1/4" lower than on the 18's

A proper plus size tire is within 1% of oem, with the 18" tire, you have not choice, nothing shorter is made.

The taller a tire is, the more it's like your running taller gearing, theirby sapping acceleration. And a taller tire also move the tire closer to the rear fender lips, bringing you closer to having rubbing problems.

So to do a wrap up, get 205/40-17, except no offset below 40mm, making 40mm your must have. If you think you'll have to run 215 width, make sure you get a 45mm offset.
