***Looking to get complete new audio system***

I have been doing some thinking and I want a new car audio system. I want to start with 6.5" and 6X9" speakers first and if I still don't like the sound I will get new subs and box too. I have been looking at JBL's and was wondering what other people think would be the best speakers. I would want the two sets to be the same brand also. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to car audio, but I like to listen to music and know my current system isn't what I want. I like a crisp, clean, bass pounding speakers. I am looking to spend about $100 for each set of speakers. Unless I find a deal that can't be passed up. Help me out fellow 3geers. I have a Pioneer 5200 deck (2.5 years old) Clarion 6.5's, Sony X-plod rear 6.5's, and 2 x 10" RF subs enclosed, and a 250S RF amp. Tell me what I should do, keeping in mind what I want to spend Thanks a lot.

I was looking at some alpine 6.5's and 6x9's on ebay and it looks like I can get both sets for under $150 What should I look for in watts? Should I get 2, 3, or 4 way speakers? The 6.5's were like subs. And both sets were the alluminum speakers (dust shields w/ thick rubber) What do you guys think? Should I look at getting these? Or do you guys know of a better alpine speaker model?

lol, that sounded like pure engrish, shepherd...

But I would second his opinion. Alpine Type-R speakers are outstanding speakers for the price. I'd just get the most expensive ones you could afford, unless you can go to a store and demo some.

If you want some other options, try going to www.sounddomain.com or www.thezeb.com and looking at what they have. CDT speakers are very good, and some others: Focal, Crystal, Cadence, Image Dynamics, and if you want to DIY, get a woofer/tweeter/crossover combo from www.partsexpress.com or www.madisound.com

i would sugest some 6.5 Type R components in the front, and some Type R 6X9's in the rear... if you want some nice sound, hit up EBAY and find a four channel alpine amp to run them with... 50watts RMSX4 is plenty, then get a single 12 inch type R with a Alpine mono block amp. then when thats all done, sell your head unit and get a nice alpine deck from Ebay... make sure you get the best you can afford, and make sure it has 3 sets of pre outs. this will make evey thing simpler and it will ensure that you have a system that will kick ass and that is all /////ALPINE...

Ok I thought I saw some Type-R subs but I could only find Type-S front and rear speakers. Are these just as good or better? They said they were the 2003 models. (But who knows,? ebay)

Those componets are 6.75" not 6.5" but they retail for like $250. Make them fit.
The 6x9" are usally around $200
For the amp wind one with a ratting of 50watts RMSX4. Anything higher then that will blow the speakers. The amp will power 4 speakes with 50 watts which is all you need. Happy hunting.

Here are some Alpine amps that will work. MRV-F340 $400 and MRV-F450 $500. There isn't any on ebay but check out sounddomanian.

    I've got a 5-channel Alpine amp I'm selling...

39 watts X 4 into 4 ohms, and 119 X 1 into 4 ohms... if you port the sub, 120 watts makes it pretty damn loud in our cars. Sealed, you can tell you have a sub, but it's not that loud.

Well shit you don't have to get an attitude. I check ebay and I didn't get any results for Alpine multi channel amps. Maybe when you checked 4 hours later some news ones showed up. Maybe you typed in a different key word then I did "Alpine amps". Maybe I should have wrote amplifier insdead of amp. Well I'm sorry.
I'm sitting here looking at my Crutcfield magazine and they are saying 6.75" diameter. Yes all the woofer diameters are 6.5 but when they say 6.75" it means that the speaker is a little bigger, so it may be mounted higher or be deaper anything that could cause some problems with it fitting.
Also when I gave a price that is what it would normally cost. You might get lucky and find one that was stolen for half price.

DXHATCHBACK helped me figure out what I want and what would be good for my needs. I just got one thing to say. I'm f*cking broke. I will be getting a huge pay check from my job on thursday and I got some cash left over. Oh and you forgot to add a 2 gauge wire kit, that wire distributor. I'm planing on making a fiberglass box. I have a old friend that is a professional stereo installer, and he makes fiberglass boxes. Bad part is I haven't talked to him in like 8 months so hopefully he will help me out.

2 guage is big, but he has a 1000 watt amp for his sub and a 650 watt amp for his speakers... thats alot of amps to pull... he could have run 4 guage, but why not get 2 gauge just incase... plus he is gonna split it from a single 2 to a double 4 AWG out

and he has a friend that knows how to install shit
