my car doesnt have to have the clutch in to start. same with ambers car.

they are both 86's though, which may have something to do with it

Yours must be weird. If I don't have the clutch in, the car won't even turn over.

Maybe it is something with the 89. I have a little sensor on the clutch but it will turn over with out it in, the same with the 87

On most, the clutch has to be all the way in for the starter to even engage, I don't know about other years, but at least that's true with the 89's. I have no idea on how to bypass that though, if you figure it out tell me.

    got it...I think????

Well i found the clutch switch. BOTH OF THEM!! There is one for the cruise control and one for the starter. if you take off the panel right below the steering column, where the tilt is, u can see it in the back. Mine was a yellow 4-prong clip in the cylinder switch like the other one on the clutch and the brake. If u unplug it and run a wire from wire to wire the car will start w/out the clutch in. just make sure ur not in gear. I still can't get the remote start to work though, the manual says that some have to have a bypass and relay for it. Guess ill have to look for some!!
