    Lags till 3500 rpms!

    i have been recently feeling a lag from 1000 rpms to 3500rpms and its kinda anoying. You can just feel the car lagging and as soon as you reach 3500 rpms its this instant burst of power. You can really tell when you floor the car in the first 2 gears. It feels like it dosent really want to speed up and as soon as it reaches 3500 rpms it feels great. I was thinking the problem is in the fuel system somewhere but i just replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. Could it be the injectors?

    BTW: i have a 86 lxi 5 speed

    alright, im bumping this back up because i am still having the problem. Its not the filter its clean. It does it whether it is hot or cold outside. My dad said something like that on one of his old cars it would do something like that and it turned out it was his cat it needed to be replaced bad and was restricting exhaust flow. I have the stock cat to a dynomax super turbo muffler could this be it. I also for some reason think its in the fuel system, like one of the injectors are fouling or something how would i know if a injector is fouling out, and could this be it?

    its farily new, had it changed about a year ago but its just now being drove alot. BUT my clutch cable is stretched out and im hoping to change it real soon because it has made my clutch feel like its older than it really is and i have the adjustment all the way out. on cold days it will feel like it dosent want to come up off the floor at all and has actually gotten stuck to the floor a few times! I have talked to the mechanic about it and he said it was just a streched out cable. Im going to change it soon.

    BTW:MrGlicko are you saying this could cause my lagging problem some how?

    How old are your O2 sensors

    When I had a pacesetter on I noticed it more than without the performance exhaust, sounds like your keeping up with your maintenance by sometimes we overlook the O2 sensors sounds like your building up some back pressure, so I would have to agree along the lines with your Dad.
    Hope this Helps, LOL

    u can get a weld in cat and it doesnt matter who makes it. but i would go with a 2.5" weld in cat. shit for that matter u could get a bolt on honda cat and cut off the flanges and weld it on, whatever u can find thats cheaper.

    high flow cats help out a bit, it was a noticable gain.

    yea i had the same problem but when i changed my clutch it went away. It might have been a fluke. It couldnt have been the cat, I don't have one.

    alright, we all agree its probbally in the cat that is giving us this massive lag in our accord. Now im looking for a direct bolt in wheir the old one is without having to cut or anything.

    pacesetter= too much
    ebay=no direct fits
    random technologies=too much, BUT i was looking at them and have noticed that the 86-89 accord ones have the same model number as the 90-91 accord ones but the 92-93 have a different one, Integra 1.6L 86-87 has the same part number and Prelude 2.0L 85-91 all have the same model number

    this must mean we can interchange them! what does everyone else think

    Ok I still think my cat needs to be replaced but today I was out driving and I noticed my clutch was starting to slip just alittle at low rpm!!!
    So I think I'm gonna get ahold of Kmod and get a ACT/ClutchNet Six Puck
    if he has one available

    I have the same lag and I have a new distributer and timing belt. I also have kept up with all maintenence items except adjusting the valves. I think it is that or the cat (since mine is 160K mi. old).
