    Lowering my 3g w/17"

I was thinking about getting coilovers to lower my car, because you have the ability to raise them back up. Western NY winters are crazy. No way can you drive a lowered car here in the winter. If I lower my car and I have 17's on it, will they rub any more than they do now. One time I had four people in the car and I scrubbed the tires every bump we hit, but that was a situation far and between, four in my car at once. With two people in my car, my cousin and myself both over 220lbs, they don't scrub unless we go over a bump rolling along around 45mph or so and that's expected. If I lower the car will there be any difference in the scrubbing of the tires in the same case. Will they rub more or stay the same. What about removing some of the wheel weld (well). Will that stop me from rubbin?

Where are they rubbing? If it's on the lips of the fenders, you can just roll the lip up to get rid of that problem.

Okay, I'm not to sure about where they are rubbing, I can hear them but I can't see any wear on the tire where it is scrubbing. Someone told me to put some chalk on the tire and have it scrub and see where it shows up on the car, haven't done that yet, but is that the way to check. If not how do I test to find out where it's rubbing?

Put chalk on the liner of the fender and go for a drive and see if the tire touches the liner... the chalk will be gone in the spot that was rubbed.

I never had rubbing problems with my 205-40-17's. they were 40mm offset
