Ignition question

Well, I had little starting problems with my car.

When I started the car, the Idle would jump like crazy and I had problem starting.... I thought it was the distributor going down the drain.....

Yesterday I noticed that the little condenser beside the ignition coil wasn't plugged in.... could that cause any damage? (I replugged it of course)

damage no, but it can make the engine run funny or not at all if it creates soo much electrical noise that the computer cant function.

haaa that must be why my tach was jumping sometimes
