    strange new problem

first ill list my setup as it might be helpful
    -deh 3400 cd player
    -preimier door/deck/tweets
    -boss 1000w 4channel
    -12" Autobahn sub

Ive been having several strange problems that just appeared

    1) excessive distortion(and kinda skippy/choppy almost like a computer bogged down... can also resemble sound when wires touched together) at my regular vol level
    2) OCCASIONALLY everything but the rear amp "cuts out"
    3) its extremely hot here and that might be a factor
    4) all wires are properly connected and its not the cd!

do you guys think its the head unit overheating?
bad wiring? amp promblems? RCA malfunction?

Do you have another amp or headunit that you can throw in there and test to isolate the problem? Do you have a voltage meter? Maybe your voltage is dipping to low and causing the amps or head unit to shut off due to under voltage.

If everything is cutting out maybe it may be the alternator. Sounds like your pulling alot of power. Test the alternator. Or maybe your getting distortion from another wire. Are the grounds close to their sources?

It's not your alternator, what it may be, however, is shorting speaker wires. Check your wire connections to each speaker, re-do them if possible and see if the problem rights itself.

Do you have a capacitor? Maybe you should get one if you don't already.

I'd say the same as 87DXHATCH, most likely a shorted speaker wire somewhere or it could even be a bad speaker.
