    Very Rough Idle

today id did a tune up to try and tried to correct this promblem.

IN PARK it has an occasional miss or stumble to it
IN GEAR at and idle its way worse and trys to die

could the fact the distributor vac advance being broke be a problem? it still has vaccuum just the case has broke away from the distributor (plunger is intact)

Is that peice replacable? or do i need a new distibutor?

oh yeah! it runs prefectly fine while driving!

yes the lack of vacuum advance will cause poor idle... have you capped off the vacuum line? Cause you could also have a vacuum leak.

You need to replace the distributor or find a good vacuum advance diaphragm from the junk yard.... there are 3 types of plunges and each type is not interchangable with the other so you need o find an exact match.

well are both posts broken? You only need #2

#25 vacuum line doesn't do much vacuum advance.

if the #2 port is broken then unhook the #2 vacuum line and connect it to the #25 vacuum port on the vacuum advance diaphragm. Then follow the #25 vaccum hose to where is connects to the metal hardlines and cap off the hard line with a vacuum cap.

If both vacuum ports are broken you're screwed.

if #25 vacuum port is broken then just plug the metal hard line like i mentioned earlier and leave #2 connected to the #2 port on the vaccum advance diaphragm.

    .....must be
    ~fuel filter
    ~wires
    ~carb

one more thing a20a1, its seems to run crappy and almost "rechoke" in the cool evening and at night

    it still ran a 10.9 1/8th

here is all the problems im facing

    1) Zero power if floored for a stop
    2) instead of choking when cold, it misses for about 2min and then idles
3)at night if i go somewhere and let the sit even for a short time, it "rechokes"
4)it misses(slightly, more like an occasional studder) at an idle any less than 1000
    5) runs fine when warm and not idling!

    help!

i just realized tha when mantis overrode the pcv valve he cut the u-shaped hose too short and it crimped! so i got a new pcv valve and replaced the u shaped line. Also replaced the topside fuel filter! That help the low end power....still misses tho! I also spent the $30 for a carb rebuild kit! I got the next two days off to fix it!

well after changing all that stuff my car runs great......almost! The only problem i have left is this: when (and only when)i come to a complete stop, and then take off, the car will spudder and sometimes goes dead! When this happends my a/f ratio gauge goes all the way to lean! It only does this from an idle; the rest of the time its like brand new! Float level are good!
    !!PLEASE HELP
