    Question weber pplz

hey i got a question for the people that did the weber install. where did you drill the hole for the throttle cable in the linkage? what holes was it in between because i dont think im getting WOT out of it. there is still some room for it to open. and i cant get the cable too tight because then the return spring isnt tight enough to keep it from idling too fast. If someone could let me know what worked for them that would be cool.

    thanks again

    james

    GM? why...

Anyways... right where the linkage bends to clear the nust that hold the linkage to the throttle shaft... that is how low you drill the hole... and you drill it as far away from the throttle bracket as you can. First though you need to get a hammer and flatten the linkage so you can drill in the spot where the bend was.

The actual formula to figure out where to drill it is this:

Cable length is how much longer the cable is when the accelerator is up then it is when its pressed to the floor.
Radius is how far from the pivot point the hole should be.

You'll also need to put a couple of washers behind it to keep it from binding the on the linkages once you've flattened it.

    Thanks PhydeauX,
A pic is worth a 1000 words... and I know I've seen you post this at least twice before.

you shortened your cable though mine is still stock length. instead of putting a cable end on it i just split the braids and put it around the stud and tightened the nut. that would make a difference wouldnt it? and thanks for the pic PhydeauX.

cut the cable and do it right.... thats all I can say.

BTW what he's using isn't a cable end... it has a pivot on it so the cable does not kink when you press the gas.

If you bolt the cable straight to the linkage you'll eventually wear out the cable and it will snap.

I got that one at abc discount auto. Its actually a cable end that I hacked into a pivot anchor because I lost the one that came with the kit. Just cut the end off the cable and unbraid one strand from the part that goes through the cable anchor, its too fat to fit otherwise. The throttle cable is easy enough to replace if you ever want to put the car back to stock.
