205/40/r16 ... the right size??

I am looking at these white ADR 16" GT Sport rims. And the guy who is selling them has them on 205/40/r16 tires. I just want to know if that is the right size tire to go with? I want to outer diameter of the tire to be the same as my stock se-i ones. which i think are 195/60/r14.
I know some people on here have those size tires. Like I think Kicker1_solo has them.

Also. What offset do I need.?

I'm running 205/40 16s. They're too small so it throws off the speedo a little bit (like 4-5mph at about 75-80). But it handles fine though the ride is a bit more harsh than it would be with 45 series tires.

Wow, that site is sweet. Thanks for the link. There is not even an inch difference in diameter with 40/ 45 series on 16's.

Huh, it shouldn't be off that much, 205/40-16 is not the right size to run. They don't follow plus sizing rules, that is to be within 1% of oem diameter. They are 3.3% to small. You can tell just by looking at them, they look to tiny mounted. I mean you can run what ya want, but your speedo will be off, you see 60mph but your really doing 58mph. And I'll bring you back to the point they they look to small as well. Up to you though.

/\ personally 2 cars I really like on this board are running those size and look good. Kicker's and 86accordLxi.

I dont think it will make a huge difference. Especially because I will be using them for about a month before I put them away for winter, and get proper tires in the spring.

i've used 205/40/16 and 205/45/16, I think 45 ran closer to normal

You can also go to www.tirerack.com. Find tires in our OEM size then go to that tires specifications, which include other sizes of the same tire. Find those sizes that have almost the same circumference.

wow, I was mentioned, that's awesome. Anyways, yeah, I love my 205/40/16s, they're great. They handle awesome. The only thing is what 86Accordlxi said is that it throws your speedo off a little bit at higher speeds but other than that I can't complain.

Thanks kicker.... but I backed out on the rims because the guy wouldnt budge on the price and it was too high. Anyways, becuase winter is almost here, I am going to get a system, and then we will see about rims in the spring.

What's your budget for wheels/tires? I'm looking for some new wheels, probably 17s, maybe we can work something out when the time comes. That is if you're interested....

Well, right now all of my money is going in to my system. But let me know a little bit ahead of time of when you decide to get new rims because I really like yours!... I am hoping to spend about $1000CDN, or a bit less. Which is around $650USD i think, on rims.
