    Question Automatic choke?

Hi, I read about the fast idle problem, but mine is slightly different. It'll fast idle for a while then start revving, as in 2500 down to 1000 then back up in quick succession - like it's trying to settle down but not quite managing it.

it does stop eventually, but has been known to kick in again - oftentimes at traffic lights etc.

    any suggestions?

how do I check for those things - car not too high mileage 110k's the previous one was 170k's and no sign of anything like this.

I don't have a manual so plain english is appreciated, car is efi.

bottom line, can I live with it for a bit? or what damage can occur?

Eureka !! the problem with the idle was the HT leads! bought some new ones as part of a good proper service, and hey presto no more erratic idle.
