    Painting your valve cover

I did this yesterday, it looks great. If you all want a way to spice up your engine bay, paint your valve cover. I already have an intake and wire covers, but once I painted this it made it look a 100 times better. $5 for a can of engine paint, and about an hour of cleaning the oil and crap off of the valve cover and painting and it's done. 2 minutes to take off, 2 minutes to put back on. Then I spent about 5-10 minutes wet sanding some paint off, where it has the honda emblem and says honda somethin' somethin' and the lines that go across it.

    pics will come soon

oh yeah, and everyone that has seen it so far thinks it's so fuckin' tight. they even offered to pay me to do theirs....

I thought you had to replace the gasket when taking off the valve cover.

you don't have to. Mine was just replaced a few months ago and is still in great shape so it was fine to leave on. If yours isn't in very good shape, then it's a pretty good idea to change it.

Yeah. That would be an air breather. Just picked up one today. Doesn't do anything for performance. It's there for looks, and better ventilation to the inside of your valve cover.

real nice, I'm considering painting mine blue, and getting a lot of other blue/silver stuff throughout the car... and more specifically on the blue color, the engine paint I got is "ford blue" from plasti-kote, I think.... i'm wanting to get a lot of stuff in that color... and the silver is really the "chrome".... it sucks, because I thought it would actually produce a chrome color, but its more like a silver... but I like the silver for painting the interior...hit me up if ya care to hear about why I wanted real chrome (no its not the wheels......)

I'd have to go "ford white" haha. My car's white, and it would only look appropriate.

Take if from me, doing a valve cover in white is a major pain. I did LXI-Girls white valve cover. I was doing if for a fee. I got so frustrated with it, I ended up shipping it done as best I could,.....for free. I hope you have better luck than I did.

They may look good but if you need emissions on your car you could possibly fail for tampering with original equiptment since in about 1970 they mandated emissions systems cannot be vented. But if you don't need emissions, who cares.

Yeah. But it couldn't be more easy to take the breather off and reconnect the hose and clamps. Keep that on for a day, and then you get home, and reconnect your breather. Just like flipping your air lid box. Easily put on as it is to take off.

    And for Jims 86LXI HB

Yeah, I heard it was hard. I'm just saying if I ever was to paint it, which, unless I do bigger better engine enhancements, it's not going to be done due to the degree of difficulty, heh.

I just painted my valve cover and my carb cover with "ford blue". Its a little lighter that I wanted it, but I don't really care lol. I was changing my valve cover gasket cause mine was leaking, and I was changing my air filter, cause I had the lid flipped (now back to normal). I didn't sand anything off, so the whole thing is blue now . Ill take pics of mine whenever I can get a digi cam (stupid sister moved out and took hers...)

Oh yah, it looks good .
