Ok guys i need to know if the alternator belt has to be very tight to keep it from squeeling for 3 minutes when i start the car. I have my car up on jackstands and doing the last of all my car work on it. My alternator belt would squeel even though you could barely move the belt up or down. I checked the alternator belt on my parents 4-runner and its a lot looser and you can actually bend the belt on its side. It does not squeel at all. So can someone tell me exactly how much deflection it should have? Really dont want to have to do this again, so please tell me correctly (have done this alternator belt at least 6 times in the past month).
