    Question Carbed Prelude Intake Manny

ive been wondering about this for the longest damn time. the preludes with the CVCC carbed engines and the other late 80s carbed engines had the dual carbs on em. im thinkin of the option of doing the dual weber carb conversion to my car instead of a motor swap. i know that the valve covers are interchangeable, but are the intake manifolds? seems like it should with maybe a lil bit of modifying. has anyone done this instead of getting a custom manifold? i dont know if it would work, but if it can, i can find a manifold to used.

    here we go.
ok, i was thinking the same thing about few month ago, but all my dreams were crushed. prelude intake manifold has diff bolt pattern. It will not bolt up to A20 head.
here is what you will need to do if you want it easy DCOE swap.
you need to get 86-87 prelude cylinder head with cam and cam gear. after that go to this website http://www.twminduction.com/Home/Home-FR.html and you can get intake manifold from them.
dropping prelude head on A20 will increase your compression ratio.
    Alex.

ah, now that was something i was wondering about also. i kept thinkin that the prelude head could bolt up to the A20 block. now are u talkin about the single cam prelude head or the dual. ive seen some DOHC preludes with dual carbs. and as for just the manifold from the prelude, i can have that machined and stuff to fit. fill the old bolt holes, smoothed over, and redrilled to match my bolt pattern. has anyone done this, i may think about both options.

There are no DOHC ludes with dual carbs. The 3rd gen 88-89 S model was available in SOHC and DOHC but the SOHC was the only one with the carb.

Anyway, the one you need would come off a 84-87 prelude with the 1.8L engine.

what performance increases do you get

what are the performance increases in doing this, I may do this also. I know that a NOOB question but I dont know shit about engines, except how to do maintenance stuff (basic tune up). I know it increases compression, but what exactly does that do performance wise? will it increase horsepower? increase top speed? what does it do.

    thanks

Hold up here. So I can go to the junk yard, pick up a Dual carb Prelude head with intake and carbs, get the headgasket for it, refurb the thing and just bolt it on?
