mixture screw

Hello i would like to know how to remove the cap on
the mixture screw.
Does i need to take out completly the carb or just lift???

you have to remove the carb.
remove the back plate and than you can take out the cap.
instalation in reverse.

cap???? what cap, i don't see one. I can't even find the screw either :lol

yup, its capped. There is a hole right next the coolant hose connection and the cap only comes out after removing that bracket on the back of the carb.

As you can see the H hole is capped. The bracket u have to remove holds B. It is mounted on carb with 3 screws, u can see 2 of them at the same level with H and F. The 3rd one is under carb through a "L" tab of the bracket.
Why all this for an adjusting screw? Cuz the designer wanted ppl like you and me (and even Honda service guys) NOT to mess with this screw !!!

Ok, so let me get this straight, i have to remove the carb, take the cap out. Then, re-apply the gasket, put my carb back on, then, adjust it according, then, take my carb off, put the cap back in, then re-re-apply gasket, and put my carb back on?

Well, havent even looked yet. Maybe the cap will already b off, but who gets that kinda luck. And from what I've read, its a bad idea to lose that cap.
But am I right on the first part. Remove carb, take cap off, put carb back on?

I think a thin vacuum hose just bigger then the hole can be foreced in there and trimmed up some so that you can remove the hose later but the hose should hold the screw in the hole good and not run the chance or catching fire.

Just jam a piece of wood in the hole? Or in between the hole and the plate.

i never pluged that hole. the screw won't come out on it is own. i ran the carb without the cap for 1 year and other people who had my carb ran it with no problem.
you don't have to put anything in that hole.

i see! when it comes to the cover i think that you should do like A20A1 and the other guys say put something to cover it why risk it unlees you want to be dealing with it later on. You never know

Well, I just managed to get the cap off. The cap was only a piece of medal, with 3 prongs. It almost looked possiable to get off without takin the bracket off, but it just made it easier. And I just relized, my old carb never had the cap on, and I ran it like that for almost a year. Someone b4 me must of taken it off.

AHHHHHH I wish I had injection! I spent 3 hours looking for that damn screw yesterday. Why cant they just make things easy? On my LUV both ilde and mixture screws are right there in the open. Oh well at least I know where it is now. Now I am trying to figure out if its worth it to do all that just to make it so its not getting to much gas. Well thanks boys your always very helpful. Ya, the screw is a bitch to get at. I guess thats hondas way of tellin us its not meant to be played with. I went through all this work, and it turned out to be very useful. ITs not as much work as it seems. Only 4 bolts old tha carb on. As for the vacum lines, just label as u go. U will have to take out the 2 bolts, that hold the medal lines in place, behind the carb, and push them towards the firewall, in order to get the carb out. Careful not to wreck any lines, as I did, but had extra lines waiting. There old, and rip really easy.

Will you ever have to adjust this screw? If your carb is running rich, which is the one to adjust?

if it's running rich yes more than likely you'll have to adjust it.
the mixture screw is just one.
count. clockwise is screwing it in, i belive.
