But, i need some help tryign to get these gearing in second alot higher so i can go faster in second at a lower RPM, OR, a way shorter 3 rd gear tranny, now tell em what trannies from other honda bolt up to this EFI 2.0 litre, i need some help here!

not what i am lookign for, all that tells me is they are "closer", like i need to bring down my RPM's like to 6800 or 7000, somewhere around tehre, i wonder if prelude tranny and then step down to a tiny 13 inch wheel and tire combo would do it for me?

u can use accord housing and 86-89 integra gearsets. appearently they are significantly shorter, 4th gear teg feeling just like 3rd gear accord. this might be what u are looking for. u can also mix and match gears, though that might get sloppy. but possibly a combination of prelude gears, accord gears and teg gears could get you the "perfect" transmission.???

good luck.. i hope this is the kind of info u were after.

if you want speed from rpms wouldn't it be better to get larger tires?

I don't know about a longer second but an 84-87 have prelude SI has a shorter 3rd. Look in the faq section it has a lot of info about tranny stuff that will work including gear ratios. I think also the card version has slightly longer gears than the efi.

I was about to say the same thing but he said he hold 2nd because 3rd gear was too slow... so I didn't bother.

I do think it's kinda odd that he's not making any power in 3rd though... even with the racing cam, once you shift you should still be droping within the powerband.

you might want to retard you ignition some.

Hello agian, k, reason i hold second, is because not as much jam as ther eis in third coming out of the turn, and to the guy who said why dont I shift like I am an idiot, it is a 1/3 mile track, if u are shifting on a track that size, u will end up in the back, no way u can shift that many times in one lap and stay infront, wont happen, and i run 14 inch tires righ tnow, i am thinkign of going to a tighhter tranny and running small 13's, how do u think this would do? I do make power when i shift to 3 rd, but not liek second does.

Oh ya, and as far as getting auto matic, i dont think i would want to go to that, no point trying to make power with the engine then just robbing spinning a big heavy torque converter and losing thru thye auto tranny.

No, 1/3 oval track racing, it is a circle track paved, banked turns.

I know of a guy here in the northwest who builds custom 6 speed tranny's. They're like 1500 bucks or something to convert any 5 speed to a 6speed. I'm sure he could help ya out with your ratio problem. And officials wont know the difference since all the extra's are on the inside therefore invisible to officials.

I wish I could find the old info I had when I did the teg trans swap. I had the ratios for just about all the trannies. You can find some of them here: https://www.3geez.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=165. The dx/lx have the tallest final drive, 3.866, but are otherwise the same as the fi cars. An 86-87 carbed prelude has a 3.875 fd and second is a little taller then the accord and well you can just read the rest i guess. The 86-89 integra trans has I believe a 4.11 fd and a much closer gear set. You may find its 3rd gear to be low enough for what you want, and you may not. You can mix and match a good bit but not totally. Pre 86 parts have to stay with pre 86 parts and vise versa. 1st gear and the final drive are cast onto the counter shaft so they must stay together, other then that you can go with it. I believe I read some of the other d series transmisions will swap parts with the integra so they could possibly be used, but I never followd it up. You might also want to think about beefing up your motor to handle the higher rpms. I remember someone a while ago finding some arp hardware that worked, I think it was for the b18a, might want some better valve springs too.
